Guided Reading Kick Off

We are all ready to start guided reading next week! This week the children practiced literacy centers while I took small groups of students to introduce the iPads.  The students have used the iPads for games, however during guided reading with ipads I have certain procedures we follow.  The boys and girls learned how to navigate in the Library Folder on the iPad and guided reading expectations.  Normally I encourage the children to explore with technology.  Guided reading is a bit more structured.  The students need to "stay together" or not skip ahead in the book.  The first instinct the students seem to have is to press ALL the buttons.  To be honest, I tend to do the same thing when given a new piece of technology!  This week we explored and learned how to use the iPads to cut back on the urge to go crazy pressing buttons next week.

I have assigned your child's books on Raz-Kids.   When you go on Raz kids our class list may be up already and you just click on your child's name.  If it asks for our user name, it is mbarnettm.
If you would like to get started reading on Raz kids, there is a list of books your child can read at the top of the Blog click on "Raz kids book list".  Please read only the books on the list.  I will assign the rest later.  Have a great weekend!
