Half and Half Shop

We kicked off the Half and Half Shop this week.  Students are divided into teams by the tables in the classroom.  Each team can earn play money by working well together; sharing, problem solving and so on.  Teams can also lose money for not working well together.  Twice a month the students are able to shop at the store based on the amount of money the team earned.  For example; if a team earns 26 cents, each team member will have 26 cents to spend at the Half and Half Shop. We are starting off by being able to earn pennies.  As the year progresses we will introduce nickels, dimes, quarters and dollars.  This also serves as a nice mini math lesson as the students have to decide if they have enough money for an item and then counting coins.  The students are very excited to shop!
